…it would be a real test for both drivers and equipment. There was a full entry for race day and there were also 70 plus drivers practicing on Saturday with seven timed runs for all classes in heat order. So plenty of opportunity for those new to the venue to adjust to track conditions. The usual three classes were running, 17.5 Blinky, 13.5 Open and Formula. Coming soon from HMX is their new BLE Bluetooth dongle for the use with the World Championship winning HMX speed controllers and iOS-based mobile devices. The small and lightweight dongle comes including all needed connecting wires and protective shrink wrap and due to its design it can remain in the car even during operation, ensuring accessibility to the controller’s settings even with the body on. Fantom Racing have introduced their latest motor testing tool, the Facts Machine 3S precision resistance and inductance meter. The device allows to test both the resistance and inductance of brushless motors, information that is critical to estimate the performance capability of brushless motors. The general rule of thumb is the combination of the lowest resistance and highest inductance produces the highest performance for RC motors, and the difference between these two numbers we call the “spread”. Former U.S. ROAR National Champion and Nitro On-road contender DJ Apolaro, has joined up with Italian manufacturer Hot Race Tires for the 2018/19 on-road racing season. DJ started off his new program by setting the TQ with a new track record and winning the 1/8th Open class at this past weekend’s KO Propo Nitro Grand Prix held at the new Steel City Raceway in Fontana, California. Over in the fast LMP1 Modified class Kai and Tim Altmann continued where they had left last week in Utrecht and they dominated the field. Xenon have announced the release of their full line of VSS EX 64 pitch electric touring and pan car super gears. They are considered to be the world’s smallest moulded main gears and they are available in 68T to 87T specification.
