The opening round of the popular Essex Winter Series took place over the weekend with newly crowned World Champion Bruno Coelho taking the win. A series that has attracted some of the biggest names in Electric Touring to the UK in the past, after its forced Covid break it was the Xray team who were the star entries as the indoor carpet series made its return – Martin Hudy and Francesco Martini also making the trip. Sam Isaacs is the 2022 ROAR Electric On Road Paved National Champion. This year’s event took place at Valkaria RC Raceway in Malabar, Florida, with 125 entries over the classes. Four rounds of Modified qualifying saw Isaacs’ Awesomatix go fastest in 3 with the fastest time from Q3 giving him the TQ ahead of the Xray of Mike Gee who topped the final qualifier. EssexCarpetClash returned the first weekend of October for their fifth year championship in the southern region of England. This year, there were a couple of changes compared to previous years, the main being a limit to the number of rear sets of tyres used for the day. A maximum of 2 sets, but the second set (if you chose to use them) could only be used in the finals. In the final, Apolaro looked set to take yet another ROAR National title but in the closing stages of the race hit issues eventually retiring with 2-minutes remaining. The third round of the Feiteng Onroad Touring Series in China took place last weekend with Serpent driver Kenrick Fong taking both the TQ and win with his X20 ’23. Taking place at Feiteng Raceway in Guangzhou, which has previously hosted a round of the high profile OneTen Series, the race attracted a strong field of 40 drivers.
