Last weekend, ETS RD4 took place at the Mini Circuit “Ville de Luxembourg” in Luxembourg. A fantastic onroad racetrack that attracted 150 ETS racers to sign up for the event. The weekend of racing was amazing, and luckily the weather was stable and dry. In the Matrix Modified class, Lucas Urbain took his first ever race win at the Euro Touring Series and joined the circle of winners. Bruno Coelho has cruised to victory in the opening A-Main of the ISTC World Championship in Gubbio, Italy. The one delay in proceedings at the 11th running of the championship had no effect on the pace show by the defending Champion in qualifying. Taking all 6 qualifiers, from the pole position Coelho was able to pull clear of his rivals, the closest of those being No.2 Christopher Krapp, Krapp in turn had a big advantage of Akio Sobue who finished third ahead of Ronald Volker, who came through from 8th on the grid. The grid for the 11th running of the IFMAR ISTC World Championship is set with Christopher Krapp securing the No.2 spot on the grid behind defending Champion Bruno Coelho. Despite the heavy rains that played havoc with the timetable, the organisers managed to get all six rounds of qualifying completed just before the arrival of yet more downpours this evening. Mark Stiles clinched the overall championship at the 2022 CARS 1/12 Summer Shootout Series GP last weekend driving his Awesomatix A12 chassis. Going into the 4th and final round of this long-standing UK summer championship Mark needed a solid finish in a high-quality field which featured nearly all of the UK’s top 1/12 scale drivers. …improving performances, Christopher Krapp would set the third fastest time for Yokomo ahead of Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski, another driver running in the slightly less dark second fastest heat. As cars went to the grid there was calls to not run the top heat as drivers complained about being unable to see. Legendary mechanic Masayuki Miura would make a direct call to race officials for the qualifying not to go ahead saying his driver could not see. Mini Autodromo Jody Scheckter in Fiorano played host to the annual Italian ‘Gara dei Costruttori’ race over the weekend with Carmine Raiola taking a narrow victory over Silvio Hächler. The popular manufacturers trophy race, saw ARC driver Hächler take the overall TQ after he topped all four rounds of qualifying. Infinity driver Raiola would secure P2 with young up & coming talent Filippo Domanin, son of former European Champion Fabio, securing third on the grid. …lead for a time with the duo swapping back and fort until an error in the dying minutes cost the newly crowned European Champion Mayako driver hopes of becoming the categories first multiple World Champ this century (Maurizio Monesi winning in 1988 & 1994). The error gave Ongaro the breathing space he needed and also meant his final lap was a victory lap as Ronnefalk’s clock had already stopped.
