Following a first teaser Kyosho have now officially introduced the Kyosho Optima 4WD buggy re-release. Redesigned by the original designer, the Optima has been carefully redeveloped from ground up to bring back the best of the buggies in the good old days and to offer a true fun to drive feel. The “2016” Optima is designed based on the original version released in the 1980’s, it features several updated areas without compromising parts compatibility with the original chassis. The upgrades and updates include 6061-T6 aluminium chassis material, the drivetrain can be build with the original chain or and optional belt drive, the diff gears are ball-raced, all gears are modern 48 pitch gears, and a slipper clutch allows the use of more powerful motors. The tyres offer a slightly modified tread and they are made using softer rubber and included in the kit is also all-hex hardware as well as two different front bumpers.

HPI Racing have introduced two new Maverick RC RTR cars in the form of the Strada DT desert truck and the Strada RX rallycross kit. The 1/10th scale ready-to-run vehicles feature brand new body and wheel designs, as well as the standard features already installed in all Maverick RC Strada kits, such as an enclosed full-time 4WD shaft drivetrain, front and rear gear differentials, waterproof electronics including receiver, servo and speed controller, 2.4GHz radio system and more.

Kyosho tease Optima buggy re-release

Kyosho are currently teasing a possible Optima 1/10th 4WD buggy re-release. The iconic 1980’s buggy once featured a chain-driven all-wheel drivetrain with rear motor, the infamous red body small bore shock absorbers, and an aluminium frame chassis. The silhouette image hints towards a pretty close reproduction of the buggy as it was previously done with the Scorpion, Tomahawk and Beetle. We bring you more information on the realise as soon as they surface.

HPI Racing introduce updated Savage trucks

HPI Racing’s iconic Savage 1/8th scale monster truck range receives a make-over for the 2016 season with the XL 5.9 2.0, XL Octane V2 and XL Flux all being on show during this week’s Nuremberg International Toy Fair. Starting with the updated Savage XL 5.9 2.0, the truck features a variety of upgrades and changes, making it faster, meaner and even bigger. Underneath the GTXL-1 bodyshell in a new subdued colour, the chassis is the same as the colossal Savage XL Octane, with its TVP design, 3-speed Octane transmission, triple brake disc system, and a complete set of all-metal Super HD drivetrain parts. The truck is powered by the new F5.9 engine.

Team Magic E6 III BES 1/8th monster truck

During this week’s Nuremberg International Toy Fair HRC Distribution are presenting their forthcoming Team Magic E6 III BES almost-ready-to-run monster truck. The 1/8th scale electric vehicle is the full option ARR version of the popular E6 III HX RTR truck and it comes without electronics but a range of gold-coloured aluminium option parts such as front and rear shock towers, sliding motor mount, primary transmission case, shocks, wheel hex adapters and nuts, wing buttons, and suspensions arm mount plates. The kit also features a steel central diff case and steel shock pivot balls. Included will be also a set of all-terrain tyres on black wheels and a clear bodyshell.

HPI Racing have introduced the Savage XS Flux Vaughn Gittin Jr. Signature Edition of their popular mini-size electric monster truck. The truck features green springs and wheels with HB Power Pin tyres along a cool geometric bodyshell design from Vaughn’s drift competition livery. The Savage XS retains the composite TVP (Twin Vertical Plate) chassis, 3S LiPo compatibility, waterproof electronics and super-durable drivetrain and suspension it is known for. More information about the features and specifications will become available in time for the release.

HPI Racing Baja 5B Kraken RC large scale kits

HPI Racing and Kraken RC have teamed up to bring two new Baja 5B large scale buggy kits. First up is the Baja 5B TSK-b Class 1 racing buggy with a cool looking roll cage to bring modern desert racer looks and functionality to the popular large scale Baja 5B. The vehicle is completely pre-built and ready to drive right out of the box. It’s also completely outfitted with the latest super heavy duty option parts, including driveshafts, front hex hubs and one-piece rear hubs. The buggy is topped off by a pre-painted bodyshell and a set of scale wheels and tyres. Also new is the Baja 5B Kraken Sidewinder X5. The kit also makes use of the super heavy duty upgrades but it comes with a “sand rail” body and a different wheel and tyre combination.

Pro-Line Brawler 2.6" Clod Buster wheels

Made for solid axle monster trucks such as Tamiya’s Clod Buster are the Pro-Line Brawler 2.6″ wheels. The Brawler is a gray 12mm hex glue-up style wheel with a black hub cap that completely covers up the non-scale looking wheel nut, giving the truck the ultimate scale look. The wheel is a perfect match for Pro-Line’s Destroyer 2.6″ tyres and it is available in a stock offset version that has the same wheel offset as the stock Clod Buster wheels, while the wider offset version is 17.5mm wider per side making the truck 35mm wider overall than stock.
