Yokomo BD12 Optional Parts

Yokomo has announced a number of upcoming new parts releases for its BD12 1:10 Electric Touring Car.  First up is a 2.4mm thick Graphite Bumper Support.  This plate is mounted on the front bumper to strengthen the bumper.  By catching crashes and other impacts with the bulkhead, it prevents damage to the front part of the main chassis.  A 2.4mm Graphite Front Shock Tower Stiffner connects the lower portion of the front shock tower to increase rigidity.  It increases the rigidity of the shock tower and improves the shock’s operating precision, while leaving the bulkhead surrounding it supple.  Graphite Steering Block Arm L, also 2.4mm thick, feature an extended tie rod mounting position compared to the RTC standard arm to reduce toe-in change during suspension stroke.  It improves turning performance especially on high grip surfaces.  Also new for the car are RTC Axle Block Spacers which are inserted between the aluminium axle block and arm to raise the outer tie rod position and increase the amount of toe-in change due to suspension stroke, thereby increasing rear traction.  Finally there is a Graphite Separate Battery Holder.  Lightweight, split front and rear sections allow the chassis to remain flexible for torsion.  Spacers are included to adjust to the battery thickness.

Awesomatix A800R new parts release

Awesomatix has released a number of new parts for it A800 1:10 Electric Touring Car.  A new Rear Belt Tensioner for A800R mounts on the chassis right behind the motormount further reducing belt skipping on the rear pulley and extends the lifespan of the belts.  They also have a new APS Additional Progressive Spring set which is designed for use on A800R.  Progressive conical tapered springs of the APS set press on the lower suspension arms and add a progression into the suspension spring rate.  Test results showed more consistent lap times with improved overall feeling on the low-med grip asphalt and carpet tracks.  Two types of springs are included in the APS set – SPR-P1 spring, adding ~13 gf/mm average suspension rate on the wheel and a slight progression, and SPR-P2 spring, adding ~20 gf/mm average suspension rate on the wheel and increased progression.  The SPR-P1 spring is mainly recommended on the rear end of the car, while the SPR-P2 is recommended for the front end of the car.  It is also possible to add only the progression into suspension rate without increasing the total average suspension rate.  In that case you should soften the main leaf springs settings by 13gf/mm when using SPR-P1 and 20gf/mm in case of SPR-P2 usage.

Peru set to host 2025 1:8 GT World Championship

After a very successful second running of the IFMAR 1:8 GT World Championship in Sydney, Australia, last week, the third edition of the race is to travel to South America in 2025 with Peru set to be announced as hosts.  Headed up by Michael Stone, New South Wales Radio Controlled Racing Car Club did a superb job of hosting the 2023 event helping to raise the profile of IFMAR’s newest World Championship considerably compared to the inaugural event held in Florida in early 2020.  With the raised profile, Peru looks set to bolster the class further given the large following for the category in the region.  The Miniautodromo Polo Bracale in Lima, Peru, is lined up as the host circuit and already has a strong track record having hosted the recent RCtarget backed COPA America race.  Located in the Magdalena del Mar district, next to the beach and very close to the most popular districts of Lima, the track length is 280 meters, with a 50 meters straightaway and an average width of 5 meters with the surface a fine grade asphalt.  Speaking to RCtarget/IGT8 boss Paolo Morganti during his participation at the Worlds in Sydney, the highly experienced international racer believes the track is a perfect setting for a Worlds and has the people required to put on a World class event.  He also said costs associated with being at a race such as eating out are low.  An official announcement on the host of the GT Worlds is expected from IFMAR shortly.
