Excelerate RC Prodigy ‘F1’ 1:10 Formula Chassis

Another upcoming release from new entrant to the onroad chassis market Excelerate RC is their 1:10 Formula Chassis the Prodigy ‘F1’.  Having shown us their 1:10 World GT-R contender while attending the MonTech NYGP, the Wisconsin based manufacturer also brought along their F1 which is set to go on release the first week of November.  Racing at the NYGP, the designer of the Prodigy’s trio of new releases (1:12, World GT-R and F1) Josh Cyrul explained, ‘the ‘F1′ has a lot of carry over from the other cars with the kit going to come with the wings that are pictured which are eXcelerate RC’s own design.  It will also include the body and halo in the kit.’  A veteran pan car racer, Cyrul added, ‘the kit will come with a solid rear axle to start with and it will be possible to use other brands gear differentials but we will have our own gear diff coming hopefully by the end of the year.’   Having planned to have the F1 out sooner, he explained, ‘One thing that slightly delayed the release was the front servo mount and rear motor plates.  We didn’t realise how popular foam had become over in Europe so we wanted to make sure that right away it can also be run out of the box on foam tyres.  So since the first prototype car we had to cut the servo mount brackets mounts more so their will be shims in there to lower the front and the motor plate so you’ll be able to run 55/56mm foam tyres.’

Anderson claims his first MonTech NYGP win

Having attended all five previous runnings of the MonTech New York Grand Prix, Awesomatix’s Kemp Anderson has finally added his name to the list of Champions of the annual flagship event of the 360V2 track in New Rochelle.  Pushed hard in the rocket round qualifying by NYGP organiser Donny Lia, the 22-year-old would emerge as the Top Qualifier of the AbsoluteHobbyz 1:12 Modified class ahead of Lia and Xray’s Keven Hebert.  With a single 8-minute to decide who would be the new Champion, the two 2023 World Championship finalists where in a class of their own quickly gapping the rest of the 10 car field with their world class level of driving.  With Lia all over the rear of his A12X, running slightly wide coming onto the straight was the only invitation Lia needed to go to the front just after the two & a half minute mark.  Such was the leaders pace however, they where quickly upon traffic with the leader finding himself with nowhere to go as a back-marker tried to recover from a crash.  Hitting the car and in turn hit from behind by Anderson, when everything settled it was the pole sitter that was back in front.  With a mistake from Lia giving Anderson breathing space and dropping the New Yorker down to third behind Hebert, Anderson would lap everyone up to second place.  With Lia getting back passed Hebert with a minute & a half left on the clock, the attention was then on the battle for third, fourth place qualifier Max Mächler getting passed Hebert with 5 laps to make it an all Awesomatix podium by 0.044 of a second.

Anderson Top Qualifier at MonTech NYGP

Kemp Anderson is the 1:12 Modified Top Qualifier at the sixth edition of the Montech New York Grand Prix, the Awesomatix driver securing pole position for tomorrow’s single main with his time from the penultimate round of qualifier at the 360v2 track in New Rochelle.  With Donny Lia putting himself right in the picture after leading Q3 for a time, he would go on to top the fourth & final qualifier but would come up short on the TQ pace.  His time from the previous round will see the NYGP organiser line-up P2 in the final followed by Keven Hebert, the Xray driver finally getting his car set-up to where the Canadian has a chance of adding the NYGP title to his 2024 ROAR Nationals title.  Having surprised himself by holding the overnight TQ after topping Q1, 1:12 Spec World Champion Max Mächler with line up P4 on the AbsoluteHobbyz 1:12 Modified grid ahead of the Prodigy of Josh Cyrul and CRC of Andrew Knapp.  In the eXcelerate 13.5 1:12 class it is Lia who is your Top Qualifier from IFMAR President Eric Anderson.  The Speedzone Modified Touring Car class sees Hebert lead away the grid tomorrow thanks to the Canadian’s Q3 time which Kemp Anderson came very close to toppling in Q4.

Pressure from Lia sees Anderson up pace in Q3

An impressive performance from Donny Lia in the penultimate round of qualifying at the Montech New York Grand would force Kemp Anderson to up the pace in Q3 to hold on to the top spot in the event’s AbsoluteHobbyz 1:12 Modified class with another new fastest time in rocket round qualifying format.  A non-starter in the second round of qualifying as he switches between racer and event organiser, Lia, boosted by his 1:12 Stock TQ run in Q2, would lay down a very strong run until a mistake was enough to put Anderson back on top of the timing screens, the pair separated by 0.328 of a second at the end of the 8-minutes.  The only driver to manage 54-laps in Q2, he would better that time by almost 4.5-seconds with Lia becoming only the second driver to 54 laps of the 360v2 track.  Behind, Josh Cyrul would take his Prodigy 12 to the third fastest time ahead Keven Hebert and Friday’s Q1 pace setter Max Mächler, the later two having difficult runs.

Anderson top seed at Montech NYGP

Kemp Anderson is the Top Seed at the Montech NYGP, the Awesomatix driver fastest in both Modified 1:12 and Touring Car after the two seeding rounds.  The 6th running of the event at 360v2 in New Rochelle, New York, the US driver topped the AbsoluteHobbyz Modified 1:12 class from the Xray of Keven Hebert, the Canadian having set the pace in the first seeding round and unable to improve in SP2. Making a return trip to the NYGP having missed last year’s edition, Max Mächler would complete the Top 3. Based off drivers’ fastest 3-consecutive laps, New Yorker John Themelis would take his Excelerate RC Prodigy 12 to the fourth fastest time ahead of Josh Cyrul, the veteran US racer also at the controls of his newest design project.  In the Speedzone Modified Touring Car class it was a similar story with Hebert taking the first round before Anderson upped the pace in the second one, the gap between the two rivals 2/10ths of a second.
