Smokem Racing have released their new spring steel spool cups for the Team Associated TC6.2 and TC6.1. Made from Smokem’s own spring steel formula, these claim to be some of the toughest wearing drive cups available on the market today. They are further hard coated to increase durability. Ready for use without blades it provides a smooth yet reliable setup as blades can break or wear during use which has a big effect on the handling during a run.

Reno Savoya confirmed with Xray for 2014

Coming as no surprise, Xray have confirmed that multiple European Champion Reno Savoya will stay with their team for 2014. Reno has been very valuable member of R&D team and has been working closely with Juraj Hudy on the all-new XB8 development as well development of the 1/10 off-road platforms. Reno had this to say:

I started to work with the Xray team back in September ’11. I can’t be more happy and proud of all the hard work we’ve put together in order to develop and increase the performances of the Xray line. For a long time I was looking for a serious R&D implication and improvement of the products I was working on. It’s unbelievable the capability, both human and technologic, this company enjoy everyday in order to produce the best quality and performance products. At every level, professional driver or basher, we can feel the spirit of racing is in the DNA of the house! I had a wonderful year, with many big achievements, and I’m really looking forward to 2014 to carry on our trustful relationship and push my results up to another level! Like usual, never hesitate to walk around my pit area for a chat, it’s always a pleasure to share set-ups, knowledge and experiences! The new Xtrem Rally features the latest technology which provides efficient power at low and high RPM. Inside there is a 7 ports sleeve with MES, a hardened machined lightweight piston and a 14.5 turbo crankshaft, that gives even more power to this engine.

JConcepts Indoor National Series ’14 – Announcement

JConcepts Indoor National Series '14 - Announcement

JConcepts, together with many fine sponsors and race tracks, have organized a first of its kind, a true Indoor National Series. The first 3 years combined attracted over 3000 entries.  2014 is scheduled as a 5 race series across the United States, drivers now have the opportunity to showcase their abilities on a national and regional level. Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall nationals make up the seasonal events at fixed locations while the finals will serve as the end of the year bash for the awards and series championship. The series will be awarded based on points participation in 3 out of the 5 events.

Olly Jefferies confirmed at Xray

Olly Jefferies confirmed at Xray

As expected Xray have announced that five time BRCA national champion Olly Jefferies has joined their team for the 2014 racing season. ‘Olly has been constantly one of the best touring and pan car racers in the UK and we are very glad we could join the forces together to have Olly racing with the T4 & X12’. The former Team Associated driver will participate at all national level races as well at the World Championship in USA, European Championship 1/10 in Spain and European Championship 1/12 in Italy. Olly had this to say:

To continue to improve my racing result there was for me no other option and consideration than to join the Xray team, the company that I have always admired for their professionalism and the way they approach both business and racing. I would like to thank to Hudy family for offering me this unique opportunity and for having trust in me. The 2014 is the year of World Championship and I will do all my best to achieve the best possible result, with the car and team I am on board, I am very confident.

Capricorn double reverse clutch & improved shocks

Capricorn have released a number of new items for their 1/8th and 1/10th cars. First up is the new double reverse clutch system for their 1/10th car, which also works on the NT1 and Velox V10. The new clutch is available in red or black version and helps increase the power of the engine when it engages while maintaining the same top speed. An aluminium clutch bell reduces the weight by 70% over the steel version for more acceleration. New for both classes is an updated damper system with quadra o-ring and improved bottom cup for smoother shock shaft action as well as easier assembly. Finally for the C801 is a new front carbon shock tower with a different profile which helps increase steering in the entry of the corner.

John Cravotta doubles at Maine State Champs

The weekend of January 4 saw the running of the Maine State Championship at Maximus RC.  The weather was cold outside, but nice and warm inside for racers from all over New England. X Factory sent Team driver John Cravotta up from Massachusetts, and he did not disappoint, winning both buggy and SC. In mod buggy it was all X-6 cubed as Cravotta TQed both round of qualifying, setting a blistering 17 laps 5:08 on the small Maine track.  John checked out in the A main with a tone-to-tone dash, improving his qualifying time by a second.
