The annual Greek Cup took place in Serres in the North of Greece. Drivers from all over the country attended and after the four qualifying rounds Xray driver Tasos Paparegas took TQ in front of Papanikolaou and Terzis. The 45 minute final saw an easy win of the XB9 driver. John Paparegas fought very hard with the rest of the field and he brought home the 3rd place over all at the end even though he started from 7th place. JConcepts Slash 4×4 carbon shock towers

JConcepts Slash 4x4 carbon shock towers

JConcepts introduce carbon fibre shock tower conversion kits for the Traxxas Slash 4×4 truck. Available as front and rear set, the towers themselves are made from 4mm carbon fibre while the body mount duties are taken over by machined aluminium adaptors. The shocks also received new stand-offs, again machined from high quality, blue anodised aluminium. In combination the parts make for a more sturdy base for the shocks and body in order to improve suspension efficiency and the overall driving feel. The parts are ideal for all competition short course racers and are also the ideal choice for JConcept’s Scalpel conversion. Beside the full sets the front and rear tower, body mount adapter and shock stand-offs are also available separately.

FEMCA EP Off-Road Champs – Report

FEMCA EP Off-Road Champs – Report

Following this year’s FEMCA 1/8th Off-Road Championships held in China back in August the Far East Model Car Association held the 2013 1/10th EP Off-Road Champs in Taichung City, Taiwan last weekend. Located on the top of a mountain a lot of effort went into the track that was only built the week before the race. Kudos to the organisers who created a fun and challenging track whose surface had been treated with the famous honey and sugar mixture that was first used in Pattaya, Thailand and than at the FEMCA 1/8th event in Beijing. The treatment made for high traction and tyre wear; as Hara San said: Maximum. The FEMCA race this time attracted racers from all over Asia, including Japan, Korea, Thailand, China and Australia and with host country Taiwan had the most drivers attending, showing that 1/10th Buggy is a rapidly growing class.

Tamiya Egress 2013 – details

Tamiya Egress 2013 – details

Tamiyablog.com have some additional images and information of Tamiya’s forthcoming Egrees re-release available. The 2013 model of Tamiya’s 1988 high performance buggy incorporates some improvements and modifications to allow the use of modern day equipment such as LiPo batteries and mild brushless motors. The shaft driven drivetrain is fully equipped with ball bearings and a torque splitter option, allowing to run the buggy with a one way or full-time 4WD while the chassis layout and all suspension parts are taken over from the 1988 variant. The chassis layout is known from Tamiya’s iconic Avante buggy with a 15mm longer wheelbase variant being used in the Egrees model. The front and the rear of the buggy is equipped with high-torque ball differentials and the vehicle comes with anti-roll bars and large capacity titanium-colour aluminium body shock absorbers. While the original kit features some titanium parts the ’13 model sees the use of carbon fibre or aluminium instead. Some areas are also beefed-up such as the steering with a 2mm carbon fibre steering link or the S-shaped alloy braces that reinforce the inner mounting points of the rear wishbones. The kit is available from December and will come as rolling chassis without electronics, controller or motor.
