Robin Nelson wins Blue/Grey Classic

Top drivers from around North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia showed up for the Blue/Grey Classic last Sunday, hosted by Nitro Valley Speedway in Cherryville, NC, which is located about 30 miles from The Farm 2, host of the 2008 Worlds. The event attracted over 100 drivers including Robin Nelson, Ryan Lopez, Travis Phillips, Chris Pace and Brandon Melton as well as local favorites such as Robby Saxton, Jeremy Talent and Justin Atkins. Ryan Lopez TQ’d the Pro Buggy class, but in the final he flamed out after battling Robin Nelson during the first half of the A-Main. This allowed Robin Nelson to go on and take the win in the A-Main with his Werks B7ProC powered Hyper 9, giving Hobao their first big win on the East Coast with the new buggy.

This new pan-car class used 200 mm sports car bodies with brushless motors and the revolutionary Gen-X 10 finished 1st and 4th, taking the first ever win in this new class.  In 1/12th stock, the CRC Gen-X was also T.Q. with driver Pete D’Agnolo winning every round of qualifying.

JConcepts Rulux Half-ups standard offset

JConcepts Rulux Half-ups standard offset

Large diameter wheels are the craze in 1/8th off-road for blue and black grooved conditions and JConcepts is right on target with Rulux Half-ups truck wheels in standard offset.  Half-ups refer to the bead mounting diameter sized at 3.7” for today’s low profile racing tires and these truck wheels make a statement with their large appearance, spoke design and superior inner rib design. Half-ups wheels also incorporate an outer glue catch that resists excess glue from running down the wheel face during the gluing process. Fits 1/8th trucks with 17mm hex and standard offset.
