Tim Wood wins UK 1/8th Nats Rd7

Tim Wood wins UK 1/8th Nats Rd7

Last weekend saw round 7 of the BRCA 1/8th scale championships held at the Halifax track and it proved to be very evenly matched racing with no one driver having a clear speed advantage. Qualifying, which saw the first 2 rounds run on a damp track, saw Mugen racer Andy North claim TQ  ahead of Serpent trio Tim Wood, Richard Hicklin and Mark Green. The final was again a very close race with no more than 1/2 a lap separating the top 4 places. From the start, Andy North was slow away and struggled with cold tires in the early stages but was soon on the pace, while Chris Heath was again on a charge from 5th on the grid. After a slow start, Chris started to make back time and with him being able to cut out a fuel stop would be in contention at the finish but unfortunately for him he had a gearbox fail with 4 minutes to go while leading the race. This gave the win to Tim Wood just ahead of Mark Green in 2nd with Andy North taking 3rd.

Thanks to Andy North for the report and pictures.

Associated BB Shocks & Clutch shoes

Associated RC8/T BB Shocks & Clutch shoes

Team Associated have announced the release of some new parts for the RC8 and RC8T. Starting with these big bore shocks, they are available for both the front and rear of the car and come with hard anodized, threaded 16mm aluminum shock bodies. Extra-large shock bladders allow full volume compensation, while together with the heavy-duty 4mm stainless steel shafts the shocks provide increased stability in rough sections as well as providing softer landings on big jumps. Also new are some handy tools which will make your 16mm Big Bore shock adjustments a snap. Finally for both cars are these new clutch shoes made from durable and hard 2024 alloy that claim to extend the life of your clutch. The harder material will last longer between rebuilds and maintenance, which equates to more time on the track.

Jörn Neumann wins German 2WD Nats

Jörn Neumann wins German 2WD Nats

Only two weeks after winning the 4WD Nationals at the Trier track in Germany Team Associated/Team Durango driver Jörn Neumann also secured himself the 2WD title. The championship was held at the challenging track of the MSC Karlsfeld located in the South German Munich area. The meeting that was held over two days suffered a bit from Saturdays rainy weather which caused some delay and affected the qualifying session since the clay track got very muddy which lead to questionable conditions during the last rounds on the first day. But come Sunday all of the 64 racers in both the stock and modified class were rewarded by beautiful sunny weather. Racing started with the remaining of the qualifying rounds and early start of the finals on Sunday noon. In 2WD (13.5T) Stock CS Electronic/Associated driver Christian Stanglmeier took TQ in front of “Old Dude” Eberhard Beck (Associated) and young Sebastian Findeisen (Associated). In 2WD Modified LRP/Associated driver Benni Gröschel secured himself the number one spot some nine seconds in front of Jörn Neumann (Associated) and “Fast Boy” Robert Hart (Associated).
