Karl Marsden joins Kyosho UK

Some industry news with the announcement that Karl Marsden has joined Kyosho UK to help with promotion and to sell Kyosho products to retail stores in the North of the UK, joining the current sales team of Mike Cradock, Neil Skull and John-Yves Ferte. Karl has been involved in the business side of the RC industry selling radio control cars for many years, and is looking forward to the new challenge of selling a wide range of cars as well as Kyosho’s huge range of Planes, Helicopters and Boats. Karl is also well respected RC racer having started at the age of 9 and has since managed to achieve multiple European A finals as well as National wins & Championships in the 1/10th On & Off road Electric classes.

Xtreme Carbon parts for Associated B44

Xtreme Racing, makers of after market carbon parts, have put their skills to work on the new Team Associated B44 buggy, the result of which is some beefy carbon towers and upper decks, that are all available in black, silver and blue. First up is a new rear shock tower, that has been made from 3mm thick carbon fibre and features extra shock mounting holes, a front shock tower is also available and it too has been made from 3mm thick carbon fibre and comes with extra shock mounting hole. Both shock towers also available in 4mm thick carbon fibre for extra strength. Xtreme have also released a replacement for both the front and rear top plates, that sport a different design while finally there are also new carbon battery straps.

KO Propo EX-I UR Transmitter

Japanese company KO Propo have released details about their latest pistol grip radio, the EX-I UR. Featuring a new ultra high-speed CPU design, the radio can store up to 30 different cars in its memory and has 3 different levels of response from normal to advanced to Super-Ultra. The radio can be used in 3 or 4 channel mode and the new module has been optimised to provide ultra-stable performance. A smaller diameter steering wheel combined with less turning angle gives a quicker turning response from end point to end point and helps increase reaction speeds, while all the steering and throttle functions can be monitored on the transmitters LCD screen.

King Headz have released these new front steering knuckles for the Team Associated RC8 buggy. Made from 7075 aircraft grade aluminium, they have been anodised and featured the KHZ logo laser engraved into the body. Sold in a pair, they add extra strength to your steering system and only weigh in at 13.8 grams each.

Alsop wins Rd3 CML Winter Champs

After an eventful 2007 with his HoBao Hyper 8.5 Graham Alsop finished the year in style with a 3rd round win at the CML Nitro Winter Championships at Frankley. A thrilling 20 minute A Final saw Graham hold off challenges from CML/HoBao teammates John Holmes and John Howells to clinch a well deserved victory, 3 seconds ahead of 2nd placed Simon Willetts, with John Holmes having to settle for 3rd a further 10 seconds back.

Derek McCloskey wins Irish Christmas GP

December 28th saw the successful running of the first Irish Christmas Grand Prix meeting for EP 190mm Touring Cars, which was organised by the Lucan Model Car Club on the club’s polished floor indoor venue in Celbridge. The event attracted 21 competitors as EP racing continues to show great growth in the country. In qualifying it was Schumacher driver Derek McCloskey who claimed the top spot ahead of the Serpent S400 trio of Chris Lawlor, winner of the recent Munster Grand Prix, Keith Dempsey and Steven Brock. The A Final, run over two Legs, saw Lawlor take the opening victory ahead of McCloskey with Tony Kavanagh’s Associated completing the podium. In Leg 2, McCloskey managed to convert his TQ position in to a win which was enough to secure overall top honours as Lawlor managed just third. Taking second in Leg 2 and third overall was Keith Dempsey, who recorded the fastest lap in each leg of the Final.

JMRCA 2008 regulation changes

 JMRCA 2008 regulation changes

The Japanese governing body, the JMRCA have announced a number of important ammendments to their rules and regulations for 2008 that include the use of 2.4Ghz radio systems to be allowed during sanctioned racing. New vehicle regulations include the use of 5 cells in the touring car expert class, in place of 4 cells, while the rest of the classes in both electric and gas essentially move over to IFMAR regulations regarding technical specifications. Finally the use of brushless motors is now permitted in both 1/12th scale pan cars and 1/10th scale off road.
