Danish Off-Road Nationals Rd4

The Aviators RC Club, in the north of Denmark, played hosted the 4th round of the Danish DRCMU Off-Road Championships, which were held last weekend. The grass surfaced track layout was very tight and narrow and most of the practice took place in very wet conditions and this lack of practice had a great influence on the performance of many of the drivers in the dry qualifying rounds.

Atomic Carbon RB5 Shock Towers – Review

Atomic Carbon RB5 Shock Towers

Our mate oOple has a nice little write up on the Atomic Carbon Kyosho Ultima RB5 shock towers that their team helped co develop, and that we briefly wrote about a while ago. And his conclusion –

Despite running on some of the most demanding tracks in the UK Stu didn’t manage to do more than scratch one of the production Atomic towers so far (touch wood). The 4MM Carbon looks trick and gives the car a new look – but more importantly the additional settings are very useful, especially on the rear – not cheap, but worth it!

Joseph Quagraine joins O.S. Engines

Joseph Quagraine joins O.S. Engines

Our partners Neo Buggy are reporting that 3 times Nordic champion and Worlds Semi-finalist Joseph Quagraine has left Italian engine sponsor Novarossi and joined forces with the Japanese manufacturer O.S. Engines. Joseph makes the switch after 2 and a half years with the Italian outfit having joined them from Picco in late 2004. His most recent, and final, victory for Novarossi came 2 weeks ago when he took the truggy class win at the Offroad Meeting in Monsummano, driving the HoBao RTR truggy.

I would like to thank Novarossi for their excellent support during the last few years. I wish everyone at Novarossi all the best for the future, however I look forward to a long and successful future driving for O.S. Japan, and would also like to thank them for this oppurtunity.

Quagraine joins a long list of star racers that are currently using the O.S. buggy motor such as Pavidis, Maifield, Hughes, Tebo, Smolnik, Bradley, James and Saxton, all of which were in action at last weekends ROAR Buggy Nationals.

Dario Balestri wins Rd3 Italian Nationals

Dario Balestri wins Rd3 Italian Nationals

Last weekend, the 3rd round of the Italian 1/8th scale Nationals were run in Cassino, in the south west of the country. Weather was perfect and in qualifying it saw Daniele Ielasi, winner of the French EFRA GP last week, take the top qualifying position ahead of former European Champion Massimo Fantini, while 3rd spot went to Andrea Cristiani, winner of last weekends ATS Trophy race, held on the same track. In the race it was European 1/10th scale Champion Dario Balestri with his Motonica and Fantini with Serpent that made their way to the front of the field battling hard for the entire race. Cristiani had problems with the wheels on his car which put him out of contention while Ielasi and Fabio Domanin collided with each other 3 minutes from the end, taking both drivers out. This allowed Alberto Picco up into 3rd, where he finished, also clinching the Italian National title, while up front Balestri took the win by half a second from Fantini who finished 2nd. In the Junior race it was won by Serpent racer Nicola De Vallier.

Full results to follow soon.
