Just a quick post to mention that last weekend the 2006 Tamiya World Championships were held at a large indoor exhibition hall in Shizouka, Japan. The annual event featured many different classes as well as many different nationality of racers, and Japanese website RC Car Trend were there and have results and lots of images from the race which you can view here.

Our partner site RC infos has a brief report on the 1st round of the French 1/12th Nationals that took place at Bonneville last weekend. Pierre-François Brunet driving an Associated RC12L4 took the win ahead of Corally racer Arnaud Constanty with Mathias Rascol again driving an Associated in third. Rumours abound this time of year with manufacturers nearing their final preparations of new products for the upcoming season. Mostly rumours leak out in the form of sightings at private test sessions or team drivers informing friends or simply a case of wishful thinking. In this instance the rumours regarding Xray’s imminent release of a 1/10th 200mm gas car and 1/12th pan car has come from a number of sources and therefore I believe it to be fact.

As was expected Masami Hirosaka who dominated throughout practice and qualifying has won the 2006 Japanese EP Nationals Expert class held at the indoor facility at the Yatabe Arena. Masami, driving a Yokomo MR4-TC won 2 from the 3 finals to secure himself yet another major title. Second place went to Atsushi Hara, driving his Hot Bodies Cyclone, who finished with 2 second positions and a third to confirm his runner up spot with Shinnosuke Adachi, driving a Kyosho, finishing with a fifth, fourth and a third position to claim the final step on the podium.

Buggy-Sport again have some exclusive pre production shots, this time of the new SVM Crono RS03 Truggy. We don’t know anymore about this car other than what we see in these pics but we can assume its just your usual truggy upgrade from the original and successful RS03 buggy.

The Taiwanese racer Scott Yang, driving a GS CL-1, has won the recently held GS cup in Malaysia. The rain affected race meant that the main final was not run and results were based on semi final standings which gifted Yang the win with Ah M driving a Hong Nor in second and David Lim with a Kyosho in third.
Around 70 drivers who came from Malaysia, Taiwan, Australia and Singapore attended this great events. The weather was not stable due to the raining season. Some rounds were even finished in the mud and water…

Mirage Racing are reporting on their site about the first round of the Baginton MAM Nitro series in which Dez Chand TQ’d and won ahead of Martyn Coley and Matt Brook in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Dez Chand, RRCi Editor, was giving the SS its first track test for the upcoming magazine review. The Hellfire SS was absolutely kit standard out of the box with the HPI K4.6 Engine and Dirt Bonz tyres. This package proved flawless on the Astroturf surface and provided amazing consistency by allowing Dez to be the fastest in the wet/damp/dry conditions.

Our partner site Buggy-Sport.info has a piece about the new ‘revolutionary’ engine break-in software developed by Paco Raap over at TWF8.ws. The contraption in the picture above is simply the run in bench mounted to the starter box with the propeller driven through a full corner of a buggy.
With this software you can test clutches and show the graphs and data of transsitions, starting point of connection and slippage. All data will be saved as Excel file and can be view and worked over in a later stage or directly. It uses same PHIDGET device as the BISS and an extra DATAQ 158 USB datalogger with some extra electronics. It measures rpm engine, rpm clutch and engine temperature.
