Yokomo BD7 2014 aluminium main chassis

Yokomo BD7 2014 aluminium main chassis

After a recent brief introduction Yokomo now have more information about their forthcoming aluminium main chassis for the BD7 touring car available. “I wanted to create an aluminum chassis that would perform excellently on both carpet and asphalt surfaces”, Yukijiro Umino, the chief designer of the BD7 2014, explains. To achieve this the 2.0mm chassis is machined from especial grade 7075 aluminium that, in combination with a new shape, makes for increased overall performance on both asphalt and carpet tracks. The black anodised chassis also features milled edges for looks and smoother cornering. Performance wise the rigidness of the aluminium reduces traction roll on high-grip carpet tracks to allow for more aggressive setups while on asphalt, the chassis’ stiffness contributes to the overall stability, improving the handling characteristics of the car. There is no official release date yet but we understand that the alloy chassis will become available very soon.

Sanwa SGS-01C drift car gyro system

Sanwa SGS-01C drift car gyro system

German Sanwa distributor LRP introduce the SGS-01C gyro system that helps to make car control much easier, especially on slippery surfaces as it can reduce both under- and oversteer tendencies. Designed with drift car racing in mind the gyro is also usable in many other applications although you have to check with the event’s rules before using it in competition as many tracks, race series and governing bodies ban the use of gyros for fairness reasons. When used in combination with Sanwa’s M12, Exzes-Z or MT-4S transmitters the gyro’s sensibility is adjustable via the radios and even during a run.

Novarossi conical 1/8th manifolds

Novarossi conical 1/8th manifolds

Italian company Novarossi introduce two new conical manifolds for 1/8th off-road and GT cars. The new 41031 Buggy and Truggy manifold is based on the 41021 part while the 41032, based off the shorter 41019, is ideal for GT, Buggy and Truggy models. The new conical shape will improve power at low to medium revs meaning they are especially aimed towards the use on small to medium sized tracks.

Hiro Factory HRF10X 2014ver F1 conversion kit

Hiro Factory HRF10X 2014ver F1 conversion kit

Hiro Factory introduce the HRF10X 2014ver formula 1 conversion kit for Tamiya F103 and F104 cars. The set is based around a completely redesigned main chassis that allows to adjust the flex characteristics using aluminium inserts and connecting aluminium washers. The chassis kit takes shorty-type LiPo battery packs and included are also a new rear aluminium power pod supported by side links and a 2.5mm 7075 aluminium power pod plate that helps with motor cooling in hot ambient temperatures or when running highly stressed stock motor. Also part of the rear power pod are special spring steel wing mounts and an aluminium roll damper. A HRF12X centre shock with 3-hole piston and hardened shock body is included for pitch dampening as are several hardware parts. As the HRF10X is a conversion kit it needs a F103/104-style front end and rear axle, wings, wheels, tyres and a bodyshell for completion.

Shepherd premium driveshaft grease

Shepherd premium driveshaft grease

Shepherd Micro Racing extend their line of chemicals and lubricants with the addition of their new premium driveshaft grease. Based on complex lithium-calcium thickener the lube will greatly reduce the wear of driveshaft pins and outdrives even with only a thin coat of the grease applied. The lubricant comes in a handy 6g container with screw on cap and also works in many other metal-on-metal applications.

Updated Xray X10 World GT pan car coming soon

Updated Xray X10 World GT pan car coming soon

Xray have released a teaser image for their forthcoming (updated) 2015 X10 World GT pan car kit. The current X10 Link, with its slotted and relatively wide main chassis, was designed around the use of NiMH cells so our guess is that the 2014 Spec car will at least see a plain chassis, possibly designed around the use of shorty or 1S LiPo packs with a focus on an in-line mounted speed controller. With the above being purely speculation all we can do is to sit and wait until Xray makes an official announcement with images and definite features and specifications.

Yokomo GT500R ver.2 1/12th kit

Yokomo GT500R ver.2 1/12th kit

Yokomo introduce the new GT500R ver.2, an upgrade to the popular GT500R kit. The latest version comes with front and rear friction dampers installed, lowering the centre of gravity while scrubbing some weight at the same time, leading to easier driving and enhanced performance. Also a high-capacity “X” shock has been installed as the rear pitching damper to improve rear traction, allowing higher cornering speeds. Other standard features include a ball differential and optional aluminium parts to make for more aggressive setups on high-grip surfaces while retaining good low-grip drivability. The kit is available in a standard graphite version or as silver surface graphite edition, both kits will become available by early July.
