JConcepts 1968 Pontiac Firebird Pro shell

JConcepts begins to stretch its legs in the Drag Racing scene with the introduction of the new Pontiac Firebird. The new 1968 styled body dubbed, ‘The Machine’ has been an immediate hit on and off the race track and prototyped and driven by JConcepts drivers across the United States. The Firebird has a long silhouette allowing an even displacement of downforce over the front and rear end helping the body gain grip where needed. When a driver makes initial throttle response, the over-hang in the rear and built-in rear side-dams help the vehicle gain forward traction and launch stability. Getting up to speed with ‘The Machine’ is possible with the low-slung roof-line which handles the at-speed handling. The large lay-down front windshield cuts through the wind like a fighter jet while the recessed side-windows provide just enough visibility for a Pro Mod.

Yokomo R160 & R100 Drift spec speed controller

Yokomo have released a special version of the R160 / R100 speed controller, which is explosively popular due to its smooth throttle feeling, equipped with an original program dedicated to drifting, called ‘Drift Spec’ added. Many users have already installed the conventional R series in drift cars, and especially in RWD drift cars as it seems that the ease of handling in the low speed range and torque can brought out by changing the program, but in the Drift Spec, this is done by default. In addition to optimising the throttle feeling for drift driving, the delay time when shifting from braking to reverse by throttle operation has also been modified, making it even easier to use for drift driving. Of course, if you use with the dedicated programmer R26P, you can easily change the feeling to bring out the optimum characteristics according to the driving conditions and the driver’s preference.

ARC R8.3E 1/8th onroad EP competition car kit

ARC have released the R8.3E, their new 1/8th onroad electric competition car kit. Coming standard with a 5mm carbon fibre chassis which not only reduces weight but has excellent flex characteristics that delivers superior mechanical grip. The R8.3E transmission retains a 3-belt drive system through the centre of the chassis. The belts and pulleys are the same specifications as the R8.3. The integrated 3-piece upper deck connects the front bulkhead to the rear along with a fan mount for cooling the motor. The upper deck design complements the main chassis to provide optimised flex, but at the same time, reduces the likelihood of the belt flipping over the pulley. The new motor mount and a new internal ratio of 2.4, allow a wider gear ratio tuning window on the R8.3E from 4.75 to 5.85. The centralised battery position sees the batteries sit either side of the drive system close to the centerline of the chassis to improve weight distribution and lower the rolling moment. The R8.3E features new longer rear shocks that are 3mm longer than the previous model. This allows the shocks to be moved closer to the centerline for improved handling characteristics. Further improvements have been made to improve smoothness and sealing to deliver a more consistent rebound.

Ielasi Tuned GP9R & Dusty R .21 engines

Ielasi Tuned have introduced two new updates to their line of engines, the GP9R and the Dusty R. The most noticeable difference is the new grey cooling heads which going forward will be the colour the company adopts as its own. The GP9R has only had some small changes to this already reliable platform with new timing and so has a new button and the carburettor has a new black delrin ring on the bellows. The Dusty R takes a step away from its ‘entry level’ roots and the R is a new race version. Featuring a lightened crankshaft with red silicone as well as DLC treatment it has completely revised timing, a double shield front bearing, like that of its older brother DIRT, and the cooling head is now 10g lighter than the previous model and finally it too receives the delrin ring in the carburettor bellows. For both engines, in the near future you will also be able to spec it with a ceramic main bearing.
