Kyosho reveal full Fantom EP-4WD details

Following a series of high-quality images Kyosho have fully unveiled their forthcoming Fantom EP-4WD 1/12th scale electric on-road re-release kit. The original car made its debut early in 1983 and it pretty much blew the competition at the 5th JMRCA 1/12 Electric Racing Car Japan Nationals, held at a purpose-built track in Nakayama. The 1/12th scale class was a melting pot of different designs back in the day and the Fantom spearheaded them all with its balanced FRP chassis layout and chain-driven 4WD drivetrain with front one-way bearing. Fast forward to today, the 2020 model not only recreates the look and feel of the original, but also maintains the superior cornering speed and stability, even on low grip surfaces, with its part-time 4WD and front one way. As with all Kyosho Vintage Series models, each key component is consistent with the original design but has been improved to handle the latest power sources and deliver the Fantom’s distinctive sharp handling and control on modern RC tracks.

Tamiya TC-01 Formula E Gen2 4WD kit

Following a couple of teasers on social media during the recent week, Tamiya have fully unveiled their all new 190mm TC-01 shaft-driven 4WD on-road chassis that comes decked off with a fantastic looking Formula E Gen2 body shell. Starting with the chassis, the all-new TC-01 platform utilises an inboard shock absorber design to ensure an ultra-low centre of gravity while the centralised weight distribution with a mid motor and rear-mounted battery pack promises exceptional performance on the track. The suspension geometry with camber, caster, and toe angles is widely adjustable using shims, allowing to access complex setups while the standard 12mm hex touring car rims enable the driver to use a near endless range of rim and tyre combinations. The drivetrain is equipped with an oil-filled gear differential and while the kit comes with a multi-part Formula E Gen2 body shell, the chassis is also usable with standard 190mm touring car body shells. The kit will hit stores in August.
