Serpent Medius X20FWD front-wheel drive kit

Following a first teaser image Serpent now fully unveiled their all-new Medius X20FWD 1/10th scale front-wheel drive touring car kit. The kit builds on the popular X20 4WD mid-motor touring car and it utilises a strong yet lightweight 1-piece motor mount concept that does away with any interference between the front and rear chassis flex while still allowing centre flex adjustability. The result is a design that allows maximum flex capabilities without having a negative impact on the drivetrain, meaning smoother power delivery, more consistency and less chance of stripping spurs. The kit makes use of the X20’s suspension concept with front and rear pivot ball hubs, flex-adjustable lower arms, and 50mm shock absorbers with 12mm shock bodies. Ultra-low anti-roll bars help keeping the centre of gravity as low as possible while the integrated motor and servo mount allows to access a new way of chassis flex control. The multi-functional battery mounting system enables the driver to place the battery in three different ways – transversal, offset and inline – to best suit the given track conditions while the included gear differential is widely tunable using different thickness silicone fluids. The kit will become available in a carbon or aluminium chassis variant and it will hit stores by the end of April. Update: In the meantime first images of the production kit became available. You can find them at the end of this feature.

Exotek 22 aluminium drag & SC rear body mounts

Made for TLR’s 22 series of 2WD vehicles is Exotek’s aluminium rear body mount set for the use with drag racing or short course body shells. The simpler, stronger, and lighter body mounting system was developed for the rear of the 22SCT 3.0 or 22 buggies converted with street drag bodies. The mounts line up with the stock shock tower holes, attach directly to the vehicle’s quick change shock posts and still allow owners to select any shock tower holes for the shocks. They have to be used with optional stock 22SCT body posts and the mounts are machined from 7075 alloy and anodised black with silver chamfer edges for a low weight of only 8.6g for the set whereas the stock SCT body system weighs in at 21g.
