Mugen unveil MTC1 electric touring car kit

Following a couple of teasing images and videos Mugen have officially unveiled the forthcoming MTC1 1/10th 4WD electric touring car kit. Developed and track-tested for more than a year the kit will be released at the end of July and it will utilise a dual belt drive train, an “intelligent” caster adjustment system, zero tweak flex system, adjustable body positioning, ultra low profile big bore shocks with adjustable shock piston and oil viscosity markings, front double joint drive shafts, hard coated aluminium rear drive shafts, low friction pulleys, ball raced sway bars, one piece motor mount, fully adjustable narrow steering system, aerodynamic front bumper, and a fully adjustable suspension in terms of camber, toe, caster, wheelbase, track width, roll centre, diff/spool height, and steering angle. Also included are an aluminium rear gear differential with heatsink housing, oil volume and oil viscosity markings. The kit is rounded out by an aerodynamic front bumper with vent openings for optimised front end grip in high speed corners.

TRR Racestuff LMP-F carbon body mount plates

German brand TRR Racestuff has introduced carbon fibre body mount plates for several 1/10th formula pan cars. Cut from high-quality graphite material the plates are available for kits such as the Team Associated F6, the Xray X1 2017, Roche Rapid 2016 and the Shepherd Velox 2017. The plates allow to securely mount LMP body shells such as the ones from WRC to create the new fun class LMP-F cars.

Reflex Racing RSD TC7.1 pitch control system

Reflex Racing have introduced the pitch control system for the Team Associated TC7.1 touring car. It is designed to increase fore and aft chassis rigidity while maintaining the same side to side flex on the chassis by tying the steering servo mount with the motor mount via a centre tie rod. The result is more forward bite and a more precise handling. Both the motor and servo mount are cut from black anodised 7075-T6 aluminium and they sport silver edge details for looks with the motor mount utilising a lowered layshaft position by 1.5mm in order to lower the gyroscopic forces of the spur gear and layshaft for quicker direction changes. The servo mount has a third screw on the carbon fibre upper plate for better securing and precision of the servo mounting and integrated screw holes in the motor and servo mounts allow the use of screws for centre battery stops. Additional lower motor mount securing screw positions make for more flex tuning options when used with the forthcoming optional RSD chassis and an increased motor adjustment range allows the use with smaller pinion and Spur combinations.

West Coast R/C Works servo setup tools

West Coast R/C Works have announced their new product line of servo setup tools for touring and pan cars. The tools are designed to offer much greater accuracy when aligning the car’s servo horn or servo saver compared to the standard “eye balling” method. The 1/8 and 1/10 servo straight edge and pan car servo straight edge tools work together with a protractor or other measuring tools to set the correct servo trim resulting in an increased repeatability of this process. Drivers can also prepare several servos for one R/C car to be used during fast repairs at big events without having to worry that the servo trim needs to be reset. The pan car servo setup system is composed of two pan car servo centring tools and one servo straight edge. The servo setup system contains all necessary parts to install the servo in the centre and set the desired angle, which improves the repeatability of this process.

SMJ Kabuto tuned buggy & on-road exhaust sets

Speedmaster Japan have introduced two new exhaust sets for 1/8th off-road and on-road applications in the form of the SMJ Kabuto tuned silencer sets. Starting with the off-road specific exhaust, the silencer is based on the T2060 SC pipe and it was designed to match perfectly with the Kabuto XB2 engine. It is usable for buggy and truggy racing and comes including manifold, gaskets and mounting springs. Also new is an on-road specific set based off of the T2080 SC exhaust. It will match the Kabuto R21 engine and just like the off-road set contains a suitable manifold, gaskets and springs. Both sets are EFRA homologated and they will hit stores soon.

Serpent 4X vertical top-deck option

New for the Serpent 4X comes this double vertical top-deck and top-deck stiffeners. The new top-deck is the base for all the new flex options and it consists of two equal shaped vertical oriented 2.5mm carbon fibre plates. The plates are connected to the front and rear suspension with a machined aluminium adaptor plate and unlike flat top-decks, the vertical oriented double top-deck still allows for a lot of linear torsional flex, but basically eliminates any longitudinal tweaking and reduces torsional tweak drastically. It can be run in addition to the kit aluminium centre stiffener. The H-shaped stiffener plate can be removed when the top-deck is used to create more flex in the front and rear section of the car. To stiffen up the assembly further, there are two top-deck stiffeners available which connect the vertical double top-deck to the centre stiffener/motor mount assembly. Both can be used individually, to tune front and rear flex individually.
